When I think of summer, I think of ice cream, popsicles, water fun, walks in the sand, lazy days of reading for hours, pick-up games of baseball and basketball, horseback riding, just playing a lot! This is what it was like for me as a child, in a household of 15 people. These memories continue to give me direction for what I will do during the summer, even when I am working full time! I need to take a season during the year to be intentional about PLAY!!! Summer is a great time for me to do that.
For my well-being, this is the time of year that I can plug in some extra fun and games! While I prepare for the programs and ministry of the coming school year, I make sure to:
- Take a trip to the water (Brown’s Point is my favorite spot right now)
- Get a little ice cream in a cone somewhere
- Have a few books to read for pure enjoyment (David Baldacci’s Memory Man series is my current read)
- PLAY through physical activity/fun!
- Sit and look at the stars
- Have good conversations with great friends
- Spend time with God in the great outdoors!!!
I encourage you/your family to have fun making a list of PLAY, and that you enjoy following your list throughout the summer! This FF Newsletter has some great ideas for our lists, also check out the CREW'S video interview with our retired Pastor, Fr. Jim. Take some time to browse!
Our new Pastor, Fr. Bill McKee has arrived!!! If you have not already introduced yourself and your family, please come to one of our Sunday masses and do so!!! Maybe ask him what he likes to do during the summer!
Please note that we have begun REGISTRATION for VBS!! VBS will be taking place August 16-20th. It will be a hybrid model of both in-person and on-screen each day. Our High School students are looking forward to creating a mini TV studio to work out of in our daily productions! They also are very excited about playing with the children while they are on-site for the Games & Fun portion of VBS. Please plan on joining us!
Last, but not least, make sure to register for our 2021-22 Faith Formation Year!
Have a wonderful summer of PLAY!!!
Blessings and Love,
Joan
